This new comprehensive volume, Endophytes and Drug Discovery: Hidden Microbial Resources for Therapeutic Innovation, explores the fascinating world of endophytes and reveals a hidden universe teeming with unrealized promise. It takes readers on an exciting journey into the tiny worlds of plants, where astonishing symbiotic relationships have subtly grown for millennia.

Endophytes, those modest microorganisms are found inside the tissues of plants, have long been disregarded and undervalued. However, recent scientific advances have demonstrated their amazing capacity to produce a wide variety of secondary metabolites with high therapeutic efficacy. These chemicals provide new hope in the fight against illnesses that have long defied traditional therapies, and this finding begins an exciting new chapter in drug research. This book uncovers the buried riches that are harbored by endophytes by utilizing the combined knowledge of prominent scholars and field pioneers working across the globe to investigate endophytes’ intricate relationships with plants, helping to reveal the mysteries of their molecular magic.

Topics cover endophytes in drug development, endophytes as a source of antimicrobial compounds and antioxidant and anti-aging agents, bioinformatics and computational approaches in endophyte research, emerging technologies in endophytes research, ethnopharmacology and endophyte exploration, and more.

Offering a comprehensive, forward-thinking, and accessible exploration of a field with immense potential for scientific advancement and real-world applications, this volume will be a valuable addition to the library of researchers, academics, and professionals in disciplines such as microbiology, pharmacology, and biotechnology. Additionally, it will serve as a valuable resource for those seeking practical insights into endophytes for research and drug development purposes.
