With the global population projected to increase significantly by the year 2050, the need for enhanced aquaculture and fisheries production methods becomes increasingly critical. The industry is responding to this challenge by embracing innovative technologies, particularly the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). This volume explores how these technologies are being integrated into aquaculture and fisheries practices to improve production, including monitoring and managing water quality, optimizing nutritional standards for aquatic species, and addressing other limitations that may hinder growth and sustainability. By leveraging these technologies, the fisheries sector aims to not only meet the rising food demands of the future but also to ensure that production methods are efficient, sustainable, and capable of withstanding potential disruptions.

With a strong emphasis on cutting-edge technologies, Handbook on IoT-Based Aquaculture and Fisheries offers strategies for both improved efficiency and sustainability in fish farming and fisheries management. It covers a broad range of topics, from the current global conditions of aquaculture and fisheries to the latest technological developments that are influencing the field. It explores new and cutting-edge technological innovations in AI- and IoT-based applications for water quality monitoring for smart aquaculture, automated fish feeding systems, and fish disease diagnosis. It also reports on the applications of geographic information systems and remote sensing in fisheries and aquaculture.

By providing a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities within aquaculture and fisheries, this book serves as an invaluable resource for industry professionals, researchers, and policymakers, as well as for students and faculty in aquaculture science
