About the Book

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the way global media and communication operate at a rapid pace. Digital representation methods (deepfake videos, voice clones, AI-generated news and virtual influencers) have made the line between reality and simulation incredibly unclear and the technological changes in communication brought about by AI are radically altering journalism, entertainment, political communication, public relations, advertising and engagement with audiences.

This forthcoming book, Deepfake Culture and Digital Storytelling, will be an internationally edited multidisciplinary volume examining the way AI is shaping digital narratives, including trust, authenticity, ethics, creativity, and communicative practices. This volume will provide cutting-edge scholarly and practical insights into the opportunities and challenges presented by intelligent systems in digital media.

This book’s purpose is to bring together a variety of perspectives from scholars, practitioners and researchers from various countries to examine the cultural, technological, political, ethical and communicative aspects of synthetic media.
