In an era marked by rising global temperatures, unpredictable weather patterns, and increasing climate variability, agriculture—the cornerstone of human sustenance—is facing unprecedented challenges. This new book, Climate-Smart Agriculture and Horticulture: An Integrated Approach to Mitigating the Adverse Effects of Climate Change, is a comprehensive and timely volume that addresses the urgent need for adaptive, science-based strategies to safeguard agriculture in the face of climate change.

This book offers a multidisciplinary perspective on how different sectors of agriculture can adapt to and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. It presents well-structured chapters contributed by subject matter experts covering a wide spectrum of topics, including adaptive vegetable production strategies, climate-resilient floriculture and landscaping, the response of medicinal and aromatic plants to changing climatic conditions, and the role of soil microbial communities in sustaining ecosystem health.

The book further explores sustainable farming practices that enhance resilience while reducing environmental footprints. Additionally, it emphasizes the critical importance of nutritional security, highlighting the need to redesign food systems for sustainability and resilience.

The final chapters focus on technological advancements in climate-smart agriculture, showcasing innovations such as precision farming techniques, smart sensors, decision-support systems, and AI-driven tools that are revolutionizing modern agriculture.

This book is designed for agricultural researchers, academicians, policymakers, extension professionals, and students. By combining scientific rigor with practical relevance, it serves as an essential resource for understanding the impacts of climate change on agriculture and for designing resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural systems for the future.
