Reviews
”One of the best compiled documents on solid waste management (SWM). The book covers almost all aspects of solid waste management with excellent presentation: regulations, waste characteristics, collection and transfer, landfill, recycling and recovery, thermal destruction, and chemical and biological transformations. It not only describes the rich diversity of waste management systems used throughout the world but does so in a manner that raises a greater awareness of environmental sustainability. The book focuses on solid waste management practices and their shortcomings in developing countries but also deals with some issues in developed countries; it presents case studies from Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and Latin America. It presents ten different, unprecedented approaches toward solid waste management with environmental sustainability and critical success factors for each one. It is one of the most comprehensive coverages in sustainable solid waste management, and essential reading for all professionals and policymakers in the field and a valuable resource for researchers and students.”
